Although Latvia has long been known for its green gold or wood, we are not strangers to metal, and we can be proud of our high-quality metalworking companies. One of the most prominent examples is Torgy Baltic – a company whose products are highly valued and used on oil rigs and other important sites in Norway and elsewhere. Discover “Torgy Baltic” success story and future goals!

Where did “Torgy” and “Torgy Baltic” begin?

1954, a private garage in Tonsberg, Norway, and forged metal parts created therein – this is how Tor Gyllensten started the activity of “Torgy”. A major turning point came in 1980, when “Torgy” metal products were supplied to the Norwegian oil and gas industry, which was experiencing rapid growth at that time.

In 2005, cooperation between “Torgy” and Latvia started - production of metal products was moved to Latvia, where the LLC (SIA) “Torgy Baltic” was established. For the period of 18 years, “Torgy Baltic” has been manufacturing a wide range of metal products to a high standard, maintaining consistently high quality requirements.

Top-level products used in major facilities

"Torgy” is definitely the #1 supplier of various types of oil pipeline support and other subsea solutions in Norway. Company's products can be found at:

  • oil production platforms Aasgard, Brynhild, Trym, Kristin, Alvheim;
  • oil production vessels Atwood Achiever and Atwood Advantage;
  • the Goliat floating oil platform;
  • on the Vigdis underwater platform.

Despite the fact that “Torgy Baltic” has developed to perfection the knowledge and skills to manufacture pipe supports for oil and gas platforms, the company is able to implement virtually any project - even when highly original, non-standard metal products are required.

"Torgy Baltic” carries out full-cycle production, from sheet metal to painting and testing. The company offers metalworking services such as laser and waterjet cutting, welding, turning, rolling, bending, CNC milling, sandblasting, digital surveying, wet painting, and more.

Future goals - continuous development and expansion of the customer base

In order to increase its customer base and grow, “Torgy Baltic” is not only committed to producing uncompromising quality metal products under its umbrella. Firstly, production is constantly being modernised; for example, in 2022, the company acquired a powerful Fiber laser cutting machine with funding from the European Union. Secondly, “Torgy Baltic” responds quickly to various external challenges, adapting to both industry and global changes.

At the time when the world was reeling from the Covid-19 crisis, the company immediately expanded its business profile and product range to offer low-gauge structures for civil applications. It should be noted that “Torgy Baltic” is also certified accordingly (ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, EN 1090-1). Thirdly, the company takes care of its employees by offering competitive salaries, including regular inflation adjustments, and focusing on skills and knowledge development.

If your company is also looking for high-quality metal products, “Torgy Baltic” is the right choice. Contact the manufacturer in the format which is most convenient for you - either by email to torgy.baltic@torgy.no or by phone +371 2230 1302. There is also a contact form available on the “Torgy” website where you can send a message to the company's representatives, who will then contact you. Contact details of specific heads of units can also be found there.
